We are interested in studying the cell biology of virus infection. Viruses, as crafty manipulators, evolved elegant mechanisms to invade the host cells, and turn them into 'virus factories'. To achieve their goal of establishing successful infection and spread, viruses exploit the functions of many cellular factors and processes that provide them critical assistance at every stage of their infection cycles. Our lab is specifically interested in deciphering the complex interactions that occur between medically-important viruses (influenza A virus, SARS-CoV-2 and dengue) and their respective host cells. Elucidating previously unknown virus-host cell interactions, we seek to advance our understanding of viral infection mechanisms, and illuminate potentially valuable targets to develop novel antiviral therapeutics.
