We are interested in studying the cell biology of virus infection. Viruses, as crafty manipulators, evolved elegant strategies to stealthily invade the host cells and turn them into breeding chambers to produce progeny viruses. To establish successful infection, viruses exploit the functions of many cellular factors and pathways that provide them critical assistance at every stage of infection. Our lab is specifically interested in deciphering the complex interactions that occur between some medically-important viruses (influenza A virus, SARS-CoV-2 and dengue virus) and their respective host cells. Elucidating previously unknown virus-host cell interactions, we seek to advance our understanding of viral infection mechanisms, and illuminate potentially valuable targets to develop novel antiviral therapeutics.
